Helen Bertelli is a twenty-year veteran of PR and marketing as well as an entrepreneur.
As one of the first employees at a top Washington DC based PR and crisis boutique, Helen led campaigns for large B2B companies while also helping to build her employer’s business from a startup to an international firm.
Later she founded the marketing department at a national law firm and then served in leadership positions in two PR firms focused on the legal and B2B market and serving clients in the legal, accounting, finance, consulting, technology and renewable energy industries.
After moving to the Research Triangle, she founded a company publishing teaching treasure hunts for children. With products online and in dozens of stores around the country, Helen was invited to join the Durham Center for Entrepreneurship Development mentorship program.
Today she is the Founder and President of Benecomms, a creative communications agency with a focus on social innovation and giving back.
Helen is an award-winning content creator specializing in content that is scholarly but also creative, shareable and drives results. She has led projects using a variety of mediums including video, animation, and augmented and virtual reality, and her work has garnered awards and recognition including the LMA’s Your Honor Award and PR News’ Platinum PR Awards.
Helen graduated from the University of Virginia with honors.
David Bertelli is a collaborative leader with expertise in strategy, operations, financial management. He has worked in a variety of industries, including healthcare, technology, retail and consulting. His data and complex modeling skills enable our clients to build effective CRM strategies that support and compliment their marketing efforts.
David’s passions include learning and athletics. He earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia where he rowed for the University’s crew team. He earned an MBA from Darden Business School where he co-founded and coached the Darden Rowing Club.
Angela Joy creates content and handles media relations initiatives for Benecomms clients. She also heads Benecomms social innovation and volunteering initiatives.
Prior to joining Benecomms, Angela created “25 Days of Kindness,” a movement that helped support the Kerr YMCA’s successful Annual Campaign of 2017.
Angela is a passionate volunteer, serving with Backpack Buddies, Raleigh Rescue Mission, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, and in her children’s schools.
Angela was a health policy analyst for a national medical specialty society and served as a communications specialist at the nonprofit Water Systems Council, where she managed the creation of content and annual reports, and coordinated educational events including a children’s water festival.
Angela graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was on the Dean’s List. She is the proud mom of two baseball-loving boys.
Successful marketing employs both creativity and analytics. Melissa Gilmore‘s analytical background and expertise, as a software engineer and former IT Director in a large corporation, benefits our clients tremendously.
Melissa supports our clients’ inbound marketing and marketing automation strategies, while also providing research and support for their social media and media relations campaigns. She is also a passionate supporter of A Lotta Love, an organization that works to create dignified experiences for women and children transitioning from homelessness back into society by transforming shelters to create dignified, safe and emotionally-inspiring spaces.
Melissa graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Management Information Systems. Melissa lives in Wake Forest with her husband and two children.
